Introduction to the Western Pacific Railroad From 1910 until being merged into the mighty Union Pacific Railroad in 1982, the Western Pacific was one of the West's most popular railroads. Attracting fans from all over the world, the WP's short but diverse route featured everything from urban industrial trackage in the thriving metropolis of the San Francisco bay area to the scenic splendors and sleepy mountain communities of the famous Feather River Route and on through the desert wastelands of Eastern Nevada and Utah. The WP had a unique character all it's own. Today, the WP survives only as the Feather River Subdivision of Union Pacific's growing railroad empire. Fortunately, memories of the WP still live-on through preserved equipment and photographic images recorded by those who wanted to insure that future generations would be able to enjoy the WP experience. Help the WPRRHS Preserve the original 1903 Western Pacific Railway Articles of Incorporation On loan to the FRRS/WPRRHS are two books of vital importance to the history of the WP, the original 1903 Articles of Incorporation and a huge book of invoices and receipts from the original construction era of the railroad. Our goal is to raise $10,000, which will cover all the scanning and archiving of the approximately 4,500 digital files these two books are expected to provide. Fundraising for this project was kicked off at the 2010 WPRRHS Convention in Stockton, CA immediately raising $1,846.00.
