Western Pacific Railroad Museum Winter Fundraiser

2020

Top donors get rare chance to ride an operating rotary snowplow during snow clearing run.

From now until February 16th, 2020 the WPRM will be holding an online fundraiser to help support the opening of 2020 operations in the spring.

Several special incentives will be offered for our donors:

  • $50-$99 - Donors giving a total of $50-$99 will receive a copy of the "California Zephyr 70th Anniversary Special" published by the WPRM Archives. This book includes information previously published in out of print "Headlight" issues 17 and 18. There are a limited supply of these books and donors in this range will receive a copy of one as long as supplies last on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
  • $100-$249 – Donors giving a total of $100-$249 will receive a copy of either "My Western Pacific Railroad" or "California’s Tidewater Shortlines", both by Norman Holmes, chief founder of the Western Pacific Railroad Museum, or a copy of one of the "California Zephyr Mysteries" by Janet Dawson. There are a limited supply of these books and donors in this range will receive a copy of one as long as supplies last on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
  • $250-$699 – Donors giving a total of $250-$699 will receive a copy of either "72-82: Western Pacific’s Last Decade" by Benson, Dorn, Sanders and Stanley, "Western Pacific" by Ken Meeker, or "The Iron Feather" by Jeff Asay. Again, there are a limited supply of these books and donors in this range will receive a copy as long as supplies last on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
  • $700 and above – Finally, for donors giving $700 and above, the top 4 (four) donors will receive a special pass for themselves and a guest to ride in the cab of historic Southern Pacific Rotary Snowplow MW208 during a snowplowing run event. The highest two donors will receive passes for our next rotary run, the following two donors will receive passes to the following rotary run. In the event of an equal donation, the passes will be handed out based on who donated the highest amount first. Also, donations during the two week fundraising drive are cumulative, so your total donation for the drive will count.

Runs are currently NOT set for date and are weather dependent, but will occur on a Saturday. In the event no runs are done this winter, passes will still be good for the first two runs on winter 2020-2021, or if there is only one run this winter, the remaining two passes will be good the following winter.

All donors will go into a email list to be informed when the next rotary runs will occur and will get a 48 hour head start on purchasing tickets to ride the locomotive cabs, caboose cupolas and in the photoline. FRRS Life and Sustaining Members will get the next "head start" at 24 hours before general ticket release.

All donations are secured through PayPal and may be tax deductable. Ask your tax professional.
