Get Ready for Opening Work Party

Saturday March 25th & Sunday 26th, 2017

Winter is beginning to break and we need to start getting ready for spring.  We are planning a "Getting Ready for Opening" volunteer work party for Saturday March 25th and Sunday March 26th at the museum.

We have a list of things we would like to accomplish to get the museum ready to open to the public on April 1st. The top priority is to get the Gift Shop ready to serve the visitors to the museum.

Some of the items we plan to work on include:

  • Pulling most of the furniture and fixtures from the Gift Shop to allow for deep cleaning, and repainting, then we will be rearranging the layout.
  • Clean up the Diesel Shop.
  • Organize and work on the Storage Container.

Dress like you would for doing heavy duty house cleaning.  We will have things to do for everyone who can join us.  Remember, many hands make light work.  Come meet other members of the society and experience the satisfaction of being an active part of the museum.  We plan to order pizza for lunch for the volunteers.

We will start work at 10 am and finish up for the day about 4 pm.

If you can, make a two-day event out of it and sleep in our sleeper!  Reservations required.  Members can make sleeper reservations by using our on-line tool.

Please sign up using our Museum Volunteer Web page.  This will help us know who is coming and you can see which of your friends are coming.  NEW MEMBERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOMED!

Please email Eugene Vicknair at for more information.

Leisa Wesch has volunteered to be our on-site project manager.  She will be available on-site to keep the project on track.
