The FRRS/WPRRM's next major restoration project will be EMC SW1 #501.  Cosmetically, the 501 is ready to go, but the mechanical repairs are estimated at $8,000.00.

Electro-Motive Corp. SW-1, 600hp. Built 8-1939, builder number 906.

Built as EMC demo 906.  Became Western Pacific 501, WP's first diesel locomotive. Later sold to WP subsidiary Sacramento Northern as their 401.  Rebuilt by WP and sold to Corn Products Corp., Stockton.  Donated by Corn Products Corporation.

SUPPORT THE FRRS

The FRRS is supported by volunteers and donations.  Preserving our historic rolling stock and authentic facility are an on-going and expensive challenge.  Simply painting a single locomotive can cost from $20,000 to $35,000.  Restoring a first class passenger car, such as our 1948 built Vista-Dome cars, can run as high as $1 million.
